Police kill robbery suspect
Armed robbery investigation turns fatal
A man was shot and killed by a Chico Police Department detective Tuesday (Nov. 10) during an investigation into a pair of convenience store robberies that occurred last week, according to Butte County District Attorney Mike Ramsey.
The shooting took place as detectives were conducting surveillance on a home on the 600 block of Pomona Avenue. A man exited a house in that area at about 1:30 p.m., didn't stop when directed to by officers and brandished a handgun before the detective fired three shots, according to Ramsey.
Identities of the detective and the suspect were unavailable as of press time. Others detained at the scene have been released with no charges filed.
