Piece by piece
Modern art for mental health
Club Stairways, a Chico nonprofit organization that provides support to people with mental illnesses, wrapped up three days of photo shoots on the last day of June for a modern-art project that will raise funds for local programs, according to a Club Stairways press release.
Members and staff of the nonprofit posed for facial close-ups to be used in a collaborative project alongside Eric Daigh, a widely known Michigan-based conceptual artist. For this project, Daigh will help individuals use thousands of push pins to reconstruct the portraits, resulting in a series dubbed Worry Me, Wind Up. Each piece will take about one month to complete.
Tickets to win one of the pieces can be purchased for $100 by contacting Mike Little at 519-6911. Tickets will be drawn at Club Stairways’ “Believe in the Dream” gala fundraiser in October.
