Pedaling to work

Americans closing in on one million bike commuters

In October 2014, the League of American Bicyclists released its latest Where We Ride report on bicycle commuting in the United States. Among other things, the data show that between 2000 and 2013 the country saw a 63 percent growth in bicycle commuting, with 882,198 Americans commuting to work. Our North State neighbor Davis is the city with the highest percentage of residents who bike to work (24.5 percent), while overall California is the fifth-ranked state, with 1.1 percent of its population being bike commuters.
