CN&R wins statewide award for local government coverage
The California Newspaper Publishers Association named the Chico News & Review as the first-place winner for coverage of local government in its 2011 Better Newspaper Contest. CN&R competes with other weekly newspapers in the largest circulation category, papers with circulation larger than 25,000.
CN&R also picked up two second-place honors, for the annual Bike Issue and also for arts and entertainment coverage.
Meanwhile, the Chico Enterprise-Record earned two second-place awards, for column writing and arts and entertainment coverage, in its category for daily papers with circulations ranging from 15,001 to 35,000. The Orion, Chico State’s student newspaper, took the top award for general excellence in its category for four-year university papers.
