Opening day Bidwell Park disc-golf enthusiasts finally get their moment to shine This article was published on 02.17.11 Disc-golf enthusiasts and others look on as 10-year-old Becket Glazner throws out the first disc on Saturday, Feb. 12, during the official opening of Peregrine Point, the newly constructed course in Upper Bidwell Park. Becket spent dozens of hours helping with construction of the course, as he has done on other disc-golf sites in Chico. He’s the son of Lon Glazner, president of Outside Recreation Advocacy Inc., the group responsible for the effort to approve and build the course. The opening followed 17 years of controversy over the location of the site.Photo courtesy of bill cathers Read more on these topics: Activism Butte County Chico Environment Sports More Local Stories » News Pic Giants spectacle Fans view San Francisco Giants’ World Series trophy in downtown Chico.
