Not without a fight
Young female transient arrested after striking policeman with tree branch
Chico Police officers responding to a report of someone illegally camping near the corner of Park Avenue and East 11th Street Tuesday morning (Feb. 4) were met with quite the fight from a 24-year-old woman.
The responding officers asked the woman to leave the property at 1045 Park Ave., according to a Chico Police Department press release. When she refused and the officers attempted to arrest the woman for trespassing, she allegedly attempted to bite the officers and struck one in the forehead with a tree limb.
The woman, later identified as Barbara Thompson, was booked into Butte County Jail on charges of battery on a peace officer, providing false information and resisting arrest. The officer who was struck with the limb was not seriously hurt.
