Nissan LEAFs gas-power behind
Chico’s first ZEV
The first Nissan LEAF recently arrived at Chico’s Nissan dealership, and Robert “Chico Bob” Jehle, a resident who has been long committed to alternative energy, is the proud owner, according to a dealership press release.
In December 2010, the LEAF (an acronym for Leading, Environmentally friendly, Affordable, Family car), the first mass-produced “zero emissions vehicle” made by a major manufacturer, became available in Japan and the U.S. Some 20,000 individuals around the world reserved the vehicle during 2010, and it is expected to roll out in several other countries over the next seven months.
Jehle reserved a LEAF in April 2010 and was the first Chicoan to do so. He plans to charge the car each night in his home, which is powered by his own grid of alternative energy and electric power.
