On Sunday Sept. 11 in Children’s Park, Chico Mayor Scott Gruendl reads a proclamation commemorating the fourth anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. McClurg returned to Chico last November with a Purple Heart, surviving wounds to his foot and hip after being injured by a roadside bomb while on duty in Iraq.
