Lunch rush

A plate glass window at Kona’s Deli on Main Street in downtown Chico was shattered Oct. 27, when a wheel and tire disengaged from a white GMC pick-up truck, bounced off the back of a parked car and ricocheted through the window, knocking over a table and showering the deli with shards of glass. No one was injured. Police say the truck’s driver, a 16-year-old boy headed to Chico High School to pick up his sister at lunch time, was a few weeks away from getting his license. Lug nuts were missing from the other three wheels, police said, suggesting someone may have tampered with the truck, causing the mishap.
