New chief at CSU
Chico State hires new top cop
Chico State has hired a new chief to head the university’s police department. John Feeney will leave his position as captain with the San Francisco Police Department and take over as the UPD’s chief on July 1. Feeney replaces Robyn Hearne, who retired in April after serving on the force for 11 years. Former Chico Police Chief Bruce Hagerty has served as acting chief since Hearne’s departure.
“I am confident that John will be an excellent leader in the University Police Department and a strong asset to campus,” Lori Hoffman, Chico State’s vice president for Business and Finance, said in a press release.
For his part, Feeney said, “I am honored to have been selected as Chico State’s next chief of police and look forward to serving the Chico State community.”
