New bosses picked

A little less than two months before Chief Administrative Officer Paul Hahn retires, Butte County has selected Shari McCracken (pictured) as interim CAO effective Nov. 1, county officials announced Wednesday (Sept. 6). McCracken has been deputy CAO since 2005.

Meanwhile, two Chico vacancies have occupants.

At the Chico City Council meeting Tuesday (Sept. 5), City Manager Mark Orme announced that Aaron Lowe had been promoted to interim fire chief. Lowe, a division chief, replaces Bill Hack, who left last month to become fire chief in Rocklin.

The Torres Community Shelter has hired Joy Amaro as executive director. Amaro, who’s worked 13 years in the public service sector, previously headed First 5 Glenn County.
