’Tis the season for colds—and the persistent coughing that often accompanies them. If your throat is raw, skip the nasty-tasting medicines and try one of these homemade alternatives. Here are two recipes:

1/4 cup honey

1/4 cup apple-cider vinegar

Blend well and take 1 tablespoon every four hours.

3 tablespoons fresh-squeezed lemon juice

1/4 cup honey

2 tablespoons coconut oil

Blend ingredients together in a small saucepan over low heat until coconut oil melts. Take 1 tablespoon of warm syrup as needed, or mix with hot water for a tea.
