Motivation matters
Survey finds eco-conscious retailers doing best
A recent survey of U.S. retailers found that those who are making the green have made a commitment to being green. Furthermore, Reuters reported, the difference between those who are doing great and those who aren’t is in their motivations.
The survey, conducted by Retail Systems Research and the Retail Industry Leaders Association, noted a common theme: The businesses that are thriving have gone beyond small, cost-saving eco-practices. Instead, they have dedicated themselves to decreasing their footprint, incorporating it into many different parts of their business.
“Winners seek to create a sustainable brand advantage by projecting an image of corporate responsibility,” the report reads. “Laggards, on the other hand, merely view energy savings from the perspective of cost control.”
