This site contains black-and-white and color images of the Great Depression commissioned by the Farm Security Administration and Office of War Information. Local examples include color photos of Shasta Dam under construction in 1942 and pictures taken by Dorothea Lange, one the era’s most famous photographers, in Gridley in 1939. It also includes complete recordings, photos and field notes from the Northern California Folk Music Project and WPA posters.
