More green for Evergreen Academy
$10,000 toward solar
Pacific Gas and Electric Co. gave another nod of approval to Paradise Intermediate School recently by giving a large donation to the school’s solar-curriculum program for sixth graders.
The energy giant presented the campus’ Evergreen 6 Academy with a $10,000 grant at the school’s annual Solarbration energy fair in late May. The money will be used to expand on things already taught in the program, including how to conserve energy in the school and at home, said teacher Greg Holman.
Holman was honored with the PG&E Solar Schools Inspirational Educator of the Year award last year for his commitment to renewable energy. The science teacher has secured thousands of dollars in grant money for the school’s solar program since 2005, when he first got involved with PG&E’s Solar Schools Program.
