Missing Chico man found dead

Butte County Sheriff’s officers determined the fate of a Chico man missing for a week when they discovered his body Monday afternoon (Oct. 8) in a Concow-area canyon.

Robert Gonzales, 53, last contacted his family Oct. 1. The Chico Police Department got a missing person’s report last Wednesday (Oct. 3). According to a sheriff’s office press release, family members told police that Gonzales (pictured) was planning to stay with a friend who lives in the Big Bend area of Concow. The search for him started last Friday.

Sheriff’s detectives are investigating the cause of death.
