Mayoral support
Council candidate endorsed by 10 mayors
Chico City Council candidate Forough Molina (pictured) announced at a press conference Tuesday (Sept. 9) in front of the downtown Our Hands sculpture that she has the endorsements of the current and nine former Chico mayors. “I am delighted and encouraged by the support of these community leaders, whose service spans over 40 years,” she said in a prepared statement.
The supporting mayors who joined her at the press conference were current Councilwomen Mary Goloff (2012-13) and Ann Schwab (2008-12), as well as Michael McGinnis (1994-96), Andy Holcombe (2006-08) and Karl Ory (1983-85). Other mayoral supporters are current Mayor Scott Gruendl, Butte County Supervisor Maureen Kirk (2002-04), Shelton Enochs (1988-90), Mardi Worley (1981-83) and Bill Nichols (1971-73).
Molina, a mother of four, said it is important that people continue to get out into the community, despite concerns of a transient problem. “Shying away from the downtown isn’t going to help,” she said.
