Marysville councilwoman eyes Assembly

Christina Billeci, a Democrat, hopes to take down Dan Logue

Chico State alumna and Marysville City Councilwoman Christina Billeci announced this week that she is going to make a run at unseating Republican Dan Logue in the California State Assembly 3rd District next year.

Billeci (pictured), 60, who retired this year after 31 years of public service with Yuba County, said she intends to battle the gridlock in Sacramento, and focus on government reform, unemployment and education.

Before taking on Logue, though, her candidacy places her in the June Democratic primary. If she wins the support of voters in that race, Billeci will still have her work cut out for her in a district that has never before elected a Democrat.

The key, said the undaunted city councilwoman, is in the decline-to-state voters (19 percent of the district). “Elections are won on the middle, not on the fringe,” she said.
