Man charged with child porn
Computer files found after medical-marijuana-dispensary raid
A Chico man whose computer was seized during the June 2010 raids on local medical-marijuana dispensaries has been charged with receipt of child pornography. Cassidy Adam Franklin was indicted last week by a federal grand jury, according to a Department of Justice press release.
Franklin, who headed the California Harm Reduction Cooperative, faces five to 20 years behind bars and a $250,000 fine if convicted.
Helen Harberts, special assistant district attorney in Butte County, told the CN&R in June 2011 about the child pornography allegedly found on Franklin’s computer as a result of the raid. She said then that the evidence had been turned over to federal investigators. Franklin, 24, was arrested and detained March 12 by FBI agents and officers from the Butte County Sheriff’s Office.
