Lundberg lends a hand

Commercial organic farmers can now get a kick-start thanks to a multiyear program being launched by Lundberg Family Farms in Richvale, according to a Lundberg press release.

The Raising Organic Family Farms program aims to help new organic farmers and those transitioning to organic by providing measures such as seed money for equipment and supplies, education funding, and one-on-one mentorship to help with business planning, livestock managing and more. Lundberg Family Farms is the No. 1 producer of organic rice and rice products in the nation.

Applications are open to commercial organic farmers of all ages and experience levels, and recipients will be selected by a panel of judges that will decide how to allot $50,000 in grants and scholarships.
