Allegedly drunken teenager faces second DUI
Chico police arrested a Paradise teenager for DUI after a citizen reported seeing the young woman sideswipe one light standard and crash into another.
According to a Chico Police Department press release, the witness first saw 19-year-old Denyce Goodwin slumped over the steering wheel of a white Plymouth Breeze south of downtown Chico near 11th Street at around 2 a.m. last Thursday (April 7). When the man went to check on Goodwin, she reportedly awoke and starting driving south on Park Avenue.
She then allegedly drove onto the sidewalk adjacent to a gas station and kept going until she crashed the car head-on into another light standard at 17th and Park.
CPD says Goodwin became belligerent and uncooperative when confronted by officers, who shortly thereafter learned that she was driving with a suspended license related to a previous DUI. She was transported to Butte County Jail.
