Local lawmaker gets thumbs up
Sen. Sam Aanestad praised by California Chamber of Commerce for voting record
With unemployment rates continuing to soar, some in the State Capitol are making heir votes count—toward measures that encourage jobs. One is Sen. Sam Aanestad (R-Grass Valley), who recently received the highest score possible from the California Chamber of Commerce for his record rejecting “job killer” bills.
“I will support any measure—introduced by a Republican or Democrat—that works to create opportunity for all California’s citizens,” he said in a release. “This job isn’t about politics. It’s about common sense.”
Aanestad received a perfect score from the Chamber, which noted that more “job killer” bills have been passed this year than “job creator” bills. Just one “creator bill” has been passed; conversely, just one “killer bill” has been defeated in the Legislature this year.
