Oroville Ducks Unlimited recognized for fund-raising
The Oroville chapter of Ducks Unlimited was recognized recently as one of the national organization’s outstanding chapters.
The President’s Top 100 list is reserved for chapters who raise the most grassroots dollars for the Memphis, Tenn.-based organization’s habitat-conservation work.
DU comprises more than 3,500 chapters around the United States, so being named in the top 100 puts Oroville in an elite group.
Since 1937, DU has been responsible for conservation on more than 12 million acres. U.S. wetlands are disappearing at a rate of about 80,000 acres each year, making the organization’s efforts crucial to sustaining waterfowl.
