Local hospitals honored
Oroville and Feather River hospitals have been recognized for excellence
Paradise’s Feather River Hospital and Oroville Hospital have received certifications for excellence in their radiology and stroke-management departments, respectively.
Feather River’s positron emission tomography—a form of nuclear imaging that uses radioactive material ingested by a patient to diagnose disease—has been awarded a three-year “gold-seal” term of accreditation by the American College of Radiology for its high level of patient safety and image quality, according to a hospital press release.
The Sierra-Sacramento Valley Emergency Medical Services Agency recently certified Oroville Hospital as a “primary stroke center,” a reflection of the efforts of the hospital’s stroke team since its inception in April.
“Our goal is to provide the most current, evidence-based treatment for stroke patients from the minute they arrive in our emergency department through rehabilitation to home,” said Mary Jarschke, Oroville Hospital’s stroke coordinator.
