ChicoBag bags award
ChicoBag Co. was recently recognized for its green leadership when it became the first business in the state to receive the California Product Stewardship Council’s Green Arrow Award for System and Design Innovations, according to the CPSC website.
ChicoBag executive Andy Keller accepted the award Aug. 10. He released the first reusable and washable ChicoBag made from recycled polyethylene terephtalate plastic in 2005 in an effort to discourage the use of single-use bags.
The company also launched the Bag Monster campaign, a costume made from 500 plastic bags intended to show the public how many plastic bags the average American uses yearly. The costume is now worn by volunteers around the state who support ChicoBag’s mission.
