Let’s get physical

Speaking from West Lake Tahoe on Monday (June 25), Skye “The P.E. Guy” Dunn said “glooms of smoke” were billowing up and over the lake from the inferno that has scorched more than 2,700 acres in the region.

Dunn was supposed to meet with school administrators in South Lake Tahoe about physical education reform, but the fires stopped him. He and a team of four friends are walking across the U.S. to “advocate quality education as the solution to the obesity epidemic.”

Their trip started June 4 in San Francisco. Over the next nine months Dunn and the “Skyewalkers” will follow the southern route of the American Discovery Trail, along the way speaking with teachers and students about the importance of quality physical education.

Dunn has a blog on his Web site, skyethepeguy.org, and the group is filming a documentary about their trip.
