Legalize it already

When Gallup first started polling Americans about their views on legalizing marijuana 42 years ago, a large majority—84 percent—opposed it. Over the years, those for and against it have gotten closer and closer and finally, with the latest poll earlier this week, Gallup found 50 percent of Americans favor legalizing pot. In addition, a Gallup poll last year found that 70 percent thought doctors should be able to legally prescribe the drug. This chart shows the stats of those opposed and those for legalizing the drug altogether over the years.
