June water savings
Despite this June being the hottest on record, Californians were able to exceed the state's emergency mandate for water conservation. Gov. Jerry Brown's call for a 25 percent reduction was exceeded by 2.3 percent as the state's urban water suppliers saved 27.3 percent for the month—or 59.4 billion gallons of water—as compared with 2013's numbers.
