Is college worth attending?

A slim majority of Americans think a college degree is worth the cost

As the economy continues to wreak havoc on industry and institutions of higher education, some graduates are questioning the value of earning a degree.

In a recent Zogby poll of 2,530 voters nationwide, 25 percent of college graduates said obtaining a college degree isn’t worth the significant costs, such as tuition, room and board, and books.

Still, some Americans (barely more than half) remain confident that, despite the costs, college is the way to go.

Here are the results of those who say a degree is worth the money:

College graduates 63%
Respondents without college degrees 44%
All respondents 52%
Women with college degrees 65%
Men with college degrees 61%
