Injured driver needs help

Parent-driver in Chico Country Day School crash severely injured

Friends of Tricia Daverson, who was driving a van carrying seven seventh-grade Chico Country Day School students to an overnight camping trip in San Francisco when it rolled on Interstate 505, are raising funds to help with Daverson’s health care and other expenses.

According to online fundraising site YouCaring.com, Daverson sustained a broken neck, broken back, six broken ribs and a broken sternum in the May 13 accident after her vehicle was clipped by another driver, causing the van to roll several times. One student had a broken arm, and the rest suffered only minor injuries.

Daverson and partner Denine Shern operate Denine’s Cupcakes in downtown Chico and have 12 children, with 11 living at home, according to the crowdfunding site. As of Monday (May 18), the campaign had raised $11,640 toward a $20,000 goal.
