I witness
Bike riders—you know, the ones decked out in full riding gear—often get a bum rap about being in their own little world. Today in the park, when someone slowed down beside me, a totally unfashionable bike rider, I learned there might be a special person hidden under that fancy bike gear. This kind soul pointed out that my front-wheel release was unlatched and I was set to go head over heels any minute. I guess my vacant stare really caught his attention, because he suggested we pull over so he could show me how to set things straight. Chico really is a bike town, and I’m happy to share it with people like this good Samaritan on wheels.
