Walking down the sidewalk behind your dad and you, a boy around 8 years old, I couldn’t help noticing how joyful you were. Then you saw the black puppy leashed to the parking meter. It was a hot day, and the poor dog was panting furiously. Instead of just walking by, you stopped, looked at the dog and then, with your dad’s permission, entered a nearby restaurant, returning with a big cup of water. How thirsty that dog was! How kind you were! And what a sweet old world it would be if everyone were just as kind.
