Hybrid rent-a-cars

Hertz has announced a plan to spend $68 million to buy 3,400 Toyota Prius hybrids. According to the company, the cars will complement a current fleet in which 64 percent of vehicles get at least 28 miles per gallon.

The purchase is just one environmental initiative unveiled last week. Hertz also announced a $1 million donation to the National Park Foundation, and a $250,000 donation to benefit The Mayor’s Fund for the Advancement of New York City in recognition of Michael Bloomberg’s many environmental efforts.
