Husband guns down wife

An Oroville woman was transported to Enloe Medical Center for gunshot wounds to her arm and back after an apparent weekend domestic-violence attack.

According to the Butte County Sheriff’s Office, the woman’s husband, Varn Saechao, allegedly stabbed her in the face and shot her as she was attempting to leave their residence early Sunday afternoon (July 10). The woman was found lying on the front lawn of the couple’s Stump Avenue residence.

A blood trail led deputies to the scene of the shooting inside of the residence. Saechao was arrested and taken to Butte County Jail. The 57-year-old Oroville man is charged with attempted murder and is being and held on $500,000 bail.
