Hot bloated fun
They’re back, even bigger and badder.
Will Smith and Martin Lawrence return as the titular gun-happy Miami narcs, wise-cracking a mile a minute while pursuing an ecstasy kingpin whose product doesn’t encourage repeat customers, if you know what I mean. Add to the mix the welcome presence of Gabrielle Union as Lawrence’s DEA sister. And, in a summer of “Top this one!” car chases, this vehicle pulls out into a healthy lead with its freeway automobile mayhem. With Bad Boys II, you gets what you pays for.
Words of warning, though: This bad boy is quite a bit more gruesome than its predecessor. And, at two-and-a-half hours, it would almost be more accurate to call this Bad Boys 2 Long.
But what else is to be expected from the king and crown prince of bloated summer actioners, producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Michael Bay?
