Homicide under investigation

A 47-year-old man was found suffering from a gunshot wound on the 600 block of West First Avenue on Thursday (Aug. 16) around 4:30 a.m. After medics arrived and started treating him, he was transported to Enloe Medical Center, where he died.

Chico Police Department detectives are investigating John Dawson’s death as a homicide—the first of the year—but did not have any updates regarding a potential motive or suspects as of press time.
