Chico PD makes 124 arrests over Labor Day weekend
Labor Day weekend is consistently a challenge for local law enforcement. This year was no different. Between 5 p.m. Friday and 4 a.m. Monday, Chico PD made 124 arrests, 75 of which were for public intoxication. There were also 10 arrests for DUI and another 10 for public fighting.
Thirteen of the arrests were of Chico State students, while 12 were of Butte College students. Students from other schools made up 28 of the arrests. Forty-five of the arrestees were local nonstudents, suggesting it’s not just Chico State causing the problems. However, the “vast majority of these arrests took place in the area known as the South Campus Neighborhood,” reads a Chico PD press release.
