Hispanics and Religiosity
Recent changes among U.S. Catholic and Protestant populations
Catholicism remains the chief religion among U.S. Hispanics (54 percent identify as Catholic). However, according to a new survey, the population of Catholic Hispanics is shrinking and the population of Protestant Hispanics (28 percent) is growing. In 2008, 58 percent identified as Catholic and 27 percent identified as Protestant. Additionally, those who identify as Protestant are more religious. Here’s a breakdown of the religiosity between Catholics and Protestants, by age.
