Herger’s right on this one
We’ve dinged Rep. Wally Herger a lot on this page, so we’re glad for an opportunity to give him some strokes. The Darfur Peace and Accountability Act, which he supported, is a welcome step toward pressuring the Sudanese government to stop the genocide that has killed some 450,000 people and left another 2 million homeless.
The bill encourages President Bush to impose sanctions and cut off oil revenues in an effort to force the Sudanese government to allow UN troops into the country to stop the violence. He is expected to sign it.
