Herger’s in the money

Rep. Wally Herger is the eighth wealthiest congressman, at least in the state of California. Herger’s average net worth in 2010 was $7,535,509, according to the Center for Responsive Politics and published recently by the Washington Post. Herger (pictured) is worth well more than the average member of Congress ($5.9 million).

Not bad for a boy raised on a Rio Oso dairy farm that his father turned into a propane gas company. Today Herger lives in a million-dollar home in Chico’s Canyon Oaks neighborhood, at least when he’s not in Washington.

Topping the list of wealthiest California Congress members, at least for 2010, are Darrell Issa, R-Vista ($448,125,017—No. 1 in the House); the now-resigned Jane Harman, D-Venice ($326,844,751); and Nancy Pelosi, D-San Francisco ($101,123,032).
