Health and Wellness

Chico is the health-care center of its region. In addition to its hospital, Enloe Medical Center, with a staff of more than 2,100 people, the town boasts more than 200 physicians/surgeons, about 70 dentists, 20 optometrists and at least 30 chiropractors. There are also numerous primary- and urgent-care clinics.Butte County’s Department of Public Health also offers a wide range of services, especially to low-income residents, and there are numerous facilities and specialists devoted to alternative and preventive health care—far too many to list here.

Hospitals

Enloe Medical Center—Esplanade
Fifth Avenue and The Esplanade, 332-7300, www.enloe.org Enloe Medical Center, a subsidiary of Enloe Health System, has several facilities in Chico. The main one is a full-service hospital and level II trauma center that houses the Enloe Heart Program, Enloe FlightCare helicopter ambulance service, and an array of inpatient services including surgery, obstetrics and intensive care. Enloe, the only hospital in Chico, is in the beginning stages of a major expansion.
