Halloween shooting
Victim expected to survive after being shot at a south campus party
A fight at a Halloween party in the south campus neighborhood led to a shooting early Wednesday morning (Nov. 1).
Around 2 a.m., police responded to gunshots on the 700 block of Normal Avenue, arriving as someone fired a second round that did not injure anyone, according to a Chico Police Department press release. It’s unclear whether the same suspect was involved in the initial incident, during which a physical fight broke out and a partygoer was shot multiple times. The victim—who was not identified—was transported to Enloe Medical Center by a passing ambulance and was expected to survive after surgery.
About an hour later, officers responded to more gunfire at North Cedar Street and West Second Avenue. Nobody was injured, but evidence led police to believe the incidents were related. No suspects have been arrested. Anyone with information about these incidents should call 897-4910.
