‘Guts, not cuts’ Chicoans urge state lawmakers not to adopt a reductions-only budget This article was published on 06.18.09 Cheryl Powell, an in-home services provider, passionately chants about state cuts to health care. She was one of more than 100 members of the Butte County State Budget Coalition who gathered outside Assemblyman Dan Logue’s district office in Chico last Thursday (June 11). Those present protested the “cuts only” approach to balancing the state budget, which would mean less money for in-home health care and leave thousands of children without health care. The same group plans to meet noon Monday (June 22) at the City Plaza to march to state Sen. Sam Aanestad’s office and demand the budget be made up of a mix of cuts and new taxes.Photos By jasmine roufchaie Read more on these topics: Activism Chico Health Politics State of California More Local Stories » News Pic Laying down for Earth Day Daniel Dancer returns to Chico for a distinct photo shoot, Art of the Sky.
