Gun trial will have to wait
Melissa Jones’ court date has been postponed
The trial by judge for Melissa Lynn Jones, a Chicoan who allegedly pulled a gun on a freelance reporter, has been postponed. The charges stem from an incident March 31 in Red Bluff. Jones, who worked for Tehama County Mental Health, was being interviewed by Barry Clausen, who was working on a story for the Sacramento Valley Mirror about the county’s juvenile hall—in which Jones worked as a counselor—when she allegedly pulled out a .45-caliber Glock handgun and pointed it at Clausen, threatening to kill him.
Jones faces felony charges of assault with a firearm and making terrorist threats. Her trial was set for today (Nov. 19) but has been postponed until late January 2010. Stay tuned for more details as they unfold.
