Local sustainability heroes take honors at the annual This Way to Sustainability Conference
Chico State and Butte College students capped their This Way to Sustainability IV conference with a banquet recognizing local leaders in the movement.
Little did the emcee know he’d be an honoree.
Scott McNall, executive director of the university’s Institute for Sustainable Development, got surprised by professors Mark Stemen and Jim Pushnik with a special Greenies award. Moments earlier, McNall and Butte College President Diana Van Der Ploeg had presented Pushnik with the individual award—one of the three established last year.
Greenies also went to Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. (business) and GRUB (nonprofit organization).
