Green enough?
Environmental efforts take a back seat to budget concerns
Finances have dominated the narrative out of City Hall over the past year and half, as the city of Chico and the rest of the nation inch closer to economic recovery. And during that same time, aside from the recent ordinance restricting plastic bags, we have heard little about the city’s efforts to curb greenhouse gas emissions and mitigate damage to our ecosystem. Indeed, the environment has been a casualty of the Great Recession. But it’s not all gloom and doom in our annual Green Issue. So, make sure you pore over the pages of the paper and look for the tree icon for other environmentally themed stories.
