Waste Management recently announced a program called Bagster, a Dumpster-in-a-bag service that aims to make disposal easier for large, in-home projects, according to a WM press release.

The 660-gallon woven bags are intended as cheaper alternatives to renting a metal Dumpster for in-home projects that produce a lot of waste, such as remodeling and spring cleaning. The 8-by-4-foot bags can hold up to 3,300 pounds of household junk and yard waste, and are large enough to hold full sheets of plywood and sheetrock.

Residents in participating areas—including Butte County—can purchase the massive green bags at home-improvement retailers. In Chico, the bags are available at Chico Power Equipment (2795 Esplanade), Magnolia Gift & Garden (1367 East Ave.) and All Star Rents (3291 Esplanade).

After the bag is filled, residents can schedule for it to be picked up for a fee. In Butte County, the cost for a mixed-waste load such as household junk, construction debris, yard waste and sod is $99. Toxic and hazardous items are not accepted. For more information, visit www.thebagster.com.
