Great idea from the East
South Koreans with cellular savvy are skipping clipping and pulling out their phones to get discounts at various retail outlets.
Customers of a number of the country’s mobile-service companies are able to accept electronic barcodes for discounts, eliminating the need to carry a wallet stuffed with pieces of paper.
In addition, cell-phone users can transmit gift certificates for a variety of merchandise, which is then billed to the sender. The service allows the receivers to pick up products simply by showing their phones.
