Chico woman protests drone strikes
Veteran protester and Chico grandmother Cathy Webster was arrested Tuesday (April 29) with a dozen others who tried to serve an “indictment” at the Beale Air Force Base charging President Obama, base commander Col. Phillip Stewart, drone crews and others with “crimes against humanity.”
The protesters were handcuffed and then released two hours later with misdemeanor charges. They will appear in U.S. District Court, where they’ll face up to six months in prison.
Webster did two months in 2006 for trespassing at Fort Benning in Georgia as part of the A Thousand Grandmothers protest. In a press release she said the people must “hold our government accountable to the laws and treaties that govern the use of lethal force and war.”
