A locally famous face is now in the national spotlight.

Chico funeral director and embalmer Shawntel Newton, who stars alongside her dad, Ric Newton, in Newton-Bracewell Funeral Homes’ local commercials, popped up in the season 15 premiere of ABC’s reality-dating show The Bachelor.

In her introduction, cameras followed her through the halls of the funeral home, where she showed off its shiny white mausoleum. “And one day, I’ll be buried here, too,” said the bubbly brunette. At the end of the episode, she received a rose and made the first cut alongside 19 other women.

Rumor has it “Shawntel N.,” as she’s known on the show, ends up bringing Brad Womack—the infamous bachelor who broke everyone’s hearts in season 11—on a hometown date later on in the season. We’ll have to wait and see. Episodes air at 8 p.m. Mondays on KRCR Channel 7.
